From Addiction to Recovery - Maggie's story
Do you feel you do not belong? Do you feel you do not fit in?
In this episode, the Wellbeing Wizards Todd Van Hees and Gee Gahir explore ADDICTION through the eyes of Maggie.
Maggie is a recovering addict who has transformed her life in the last 7 years. Her personal story will touch your heart and provide hope for those seeking a more fulfilling way of life, feeling connected and with a deeper sense of purpose. She provides insights into the 12 step process that helped her on her road to recovery as it has tens of thousands of others.
Addiction is most commonly associated with gambling, drugs, alcohol, and smoking, but it's possible to be addicted to just about anything, including work obsession, internet, and mobile phone use, solvents, sugar, and even shopping!
Addiction involves craving for something intensely, loss of control over its use, and continuing involvement with it despite adverse consequences. £36 billion is spent by the nation every year on treatment relating to drug and alcohol abuse.
Tune in to Maggie's message of hope and transformation for anyone struggling with addiction. For anyone struggling with addiction please reach out for help.
Today is a good day to change your life.

30:37 12 Steps from cocaine anonymous
30:49 Step 1 - We admitted we were powerless over cocaine and all other mind-altering substances—that our lives had become unmanageable.
31:45 Step 2 - Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
32:20 Step 3 - Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
32:38 Step 4 - Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
33:04 Step 5 - Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
33:26 Step 6 - Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
33:39 Step 7 - Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
33:48 Step 8 - Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
34:03 Step 9 - Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
34:50 Step 10 - Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
35:16 Step 11 - Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
37:14 Step 12 - Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
